Personal Hygiene, for the comfort of yourself and all those around you.

 

Every day, your characters must spend at least a little time taking care of themselves.  They must eat one good meal, have at least one good tankard of clean water to drink, and bathe themselves with or without soap for at least ten minutes.  For every day that the character does not do one of these things, they begin to lose temporary ability score until the situation is rectified.  The table below shows the penalties for each type of neglect.

 

Days without food:
Penalties accrued:
1 Day (24 hours)
-2 to INT, -3 to Concentration Skill checks
2 Days (48 hours) -2 to INT, -2 to WIS, -3 to Concentration Skill checks
3 Days (72 hours) -3 to INT, -3 to WIS, -5 to Concentration Skill checks
4 Days (96 hours) -2 to STR, -2 to DEX, -2 to CON, -5 to INT, -5 to WIS, -6 to Concentration Skill checks
5 Days (120 hours) -5 to all attribute scores, -10 to Concentration Skill checks, the character begins to lose weight at the rate of one pound per day.
6 Days (144 hours) -5 to all attribute scores, -10 to Concentration Skill checks, -1 to all other Skill checks, the character loses weight at the rate of one pound per day
7 Days (168 hours) -6 to all attribute scores, -10 to Concentration Skill checks, -5 to all other Skill checks, the character loses weight at the rate of one pound per day, the character's maximum HP reduces by 10 points per day, 30% chance to become unconscious per hour

 

Days without water:
Penalties accrued:
1 Day (24 hours)
-3 to CON
2 Days (48 hours) -6 to CON, -2 to DEX
3 Days (72 hours) -10 to CON, 30% chance to become unconscious per hour
4 Days (96 hours) -15 to CON, 60% chance to become unconscious per hour, 10% chance to die of dehydration if they fall unconscious
5 Days (120 hours) -20 to CON, character is unconscious, 60% chance to die of dehydration every hour

 

Days without bathing:
Penalties accrued:
1 Day (24 hours)
-1 to CHA, characters who interact with this character begin to regard them with distain
2 Days (48 hours) -3 to CHA, -2 to Diplomacy Skill check, -2 to Bluff Skill check, +2 to Intimidate Skill check
3 Days (72 hours) -5 to CHA, -3 to Diplomacy Skill check, -3 to Bluff Skill check, +2 to Intimidate Skill check, characters who interact with this character begin to avoid being too close or holding an extended conversation with them
4 Days (96 hours) -6 to CHA, -5 to Diplomacy Skill check, -5 to Bluff Skill check, +5 to Intimidate Skill check, characters who interact with this character avoid this character at all costs, character may develop a reputation as a result, 10% chance to catch mundane disease
5 Days (120 hours) All of the above for the fourth day, but the chance of catching a mundane disease rises by 10% per day up to a max of 50%

 

A character with these penalties can alleviate them simply by finding food, water, or bathing, depending on what their particular affliction is.  The only exception is if the character has died or been infected with a disease as a result.
